The sheriff’s office has been investigating a crime scene for over 17 hours as of Wednesday afternoon following a domestic incident at a residence near Crystal Lake Tuesday evening.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 5000 block of Terra Cotta Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake.
Deputies received a call for a domestic incident involving two roommates.
Emergency radio traffic indicated that the 911 caller reported his roommate had attacked him and that the suspect had collapsed.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene and found a subject who was unresponsive.
They began performing CPR on the person until the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department arrived.
The sheriff’s office said around 9:20 p.m. that there was heavy police activity at the scene, which is near Terra Cotta Road and Nunda Trail.
“There is no threat to the public. Please avoid the area until further notice,” the sheriff’s office said in an alert.
Sheriff’s officials said in a brief statement on Wednesday that two household members had been in a physical fight.
Both were transported to the hospital. It is unclear whether either of them died at the hospital.
Investigators were seen at the scene throughout the night into Wednesday morning and even through early Wednesday afternoon.
Crime scene tape was placed around the residential property and a sheriff’s office crime scene investigation van was parked in the driveway, with investigators placing tents near it.
Sheriff’s officials said no arrests have been made but the incident remains under investigation.
