No injuries were reported after a fire left a home uninhabitable and spread to a second house, leaving it damaged as well, in Buffalo Grove Monday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded around 4:20 p.m. Monday to the 300 block of Timber Hill Road in Buffalo Grove for a report of a structure fire.
Fire officials said they received a report from a passerby of smoke and fire coming from a single-family residence.
Firefighters arrived within minutes and found flames from the two-story residence, which was spreading to the next-door house.
The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 assignment to bring additional fire crews to the scene.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire outside that was spreading next door, while fire crews began an interior attack on the fire at the first home and searched for occupants.
The fire was extinguished within approximately 30 minutes, fire officials said. No occupants were found inside and no injuries were reported.
Smoke and heat damage throughout the second floor of the first home left the residence uninhabitable.
The second home remained habitable, fire officials said.
No animals were injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department.
