A Woodstock woman was arrested after a brief police pursuit where she allegedly drove over a wheelchair ramp and drove into a field in Wonder Lake before being found with drugs.
Katherine L. Hansen, 44, of Woodstock, was charged with aggravated fleeing to elude causing damage, possession of methamphetamine, criminal damage to property, driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to notify of damage and driver failing to give notice of crash.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Hansen fled from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.
The sheriff’s office was responding to 911 calls from residents in the 5500 block of West Lake Shore Drive in Wonder Lake for a vehicle driving in a backyard that had crashed into a garage, according to police radio traffic.
The complaint said Hansen drove her 2007 Dodge pickup truck over a wheelchair ramp at a residence while fleeing, causing over $500 in damage.
A sheriff’s deputy had attempted to stop Hansen in the area of Woodlane Drive and Howe Drive.
The truck went through a yard and escaped from the deputy but another deputy located the vehicle nearby and it traveled through a field near Hill Drive and Wonder Woods Drive, police radio traffic indicated.
Deputies stopped the truck in the rear of a home off of Lonetree Drive and arrested Hansen at gunpoint.
The complaint said Hansen was found with approximately three grams of methamphetamine in her purse that she was wearing.
The complaint said Hansen was driving under the influence of drugs at the time. She was transported to the McHenry County Jail following the arrest.
Hansen was released from the jail after an initial appearance court hearing on Monday.
McHenry County Judge Cynthia Lamb ordered Hansen not to leave the state without court permission, be placed on pre-trial supervision, not consume illicit substances and undergo random drug screenings.
She is scheduled to appear in court again on May 12 for a status of preliminary hearing.
