A lengthy road closure is in effect after a car crashed into a utility pole and two people were rescued, including one who was hospitalized, near Woodstock Wednesday morning.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:41 a.m. to the area of Country Club Road and Bull Valley Road in Bull Valley for a vehicle crash.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said crews arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway just east of the intersection.
The SUV had struck a utility pole and sustained heavy damage.
Two occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and were rescued by firefighters, Vucha said.
The adult female driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The adult male passenger was evaluated at the scene and declined additional medical treatment.
Vucha said ComEd was called to the scene to repair the utility pole, which fell over during the crash impact.
Country Club Road east of Bull Valley Road remains closed for an undetermined amount of time due to the extent of damage to the pole and overhead power lines.
ComEd crews are working to assess and complete the repairs.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
