No injuries were reported after an SUV crashed into the front of a shoe repair shop in downtown Crystal Lake, causing damage to the building, Wednesday afternoon.
The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and the Crystal Lake Police Department responded around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday to Angelo’s Shoe Repair, 52 North Williams Street, for a report of a vehicle crash.
Fire crews arrived and found a vehicle that had crashed partially through the store.
The driver was out of the white Chevrolet SUV and reported no injuries. No injuries were reported to anyone inside.
The Crystal Lake Community Development Department was called to the scene to evaluate the structure’s integrity.
A board-up company was also called to the scene to secure a 10-by-12-foot broken front window.
The business is temporarily closed until repairs can be made to the building.
The vehicle appeared to have crashed into the building from a parking spot.
It is unknown whether the driver was cited or charged by police.
