A family is desperately seeking the community’s help in locating a 61-year-old man who went missing from Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan a week ago.
Edward Calvert, 61, was last seen around 1 p.m. on May 2 leaving Vista Medical Center East, 1324 North Sheridan Road in Waukegan.
Calvert is described as being 5-foot-11, 193 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray shirt, navy blue pants and black shoes.
The man’s sister, Earlene Hayes-Langston, told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that her brother was being treated at the hospital.
He had just been released and was sitting in the waiting room for a ride but left the hospital before the ride arrived.
Calvert walked eastbound from the hospital toward Sheridan Road and has not been seen since.
Hayes-Langston said the family is waiting for the hospital to provide video footage from that day.
Cameras from the street show someone fitting Calvert’s description leaving the area but the video is blurry.
Calvert is considered endangered as he suffers from epilepsy and was confused when he spoke with family while he was at the hospital, Hayes-Langston said.
Calvert is not very familiar with the area as he is originally from Peoria and came to the Chicago area two years ago to take care of his father, who has dementia.
Hayes-Langston said “time is of the essence” in finding her brother.
Anyone with information on Calvert’s disappearance is asked to call Waukegan Police Department Detective Brandon Bauer at 847-599-2676.
