Three people were injured after a two-vehicle crash that caused an SUV to drive into a pond and become partially submerged in Buffalo Grove, police said.
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department, Long Grove Fire Protection District, Buffalo Grove Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4:20 p.m. Saturday to the area of Route 53 and Fremont Way in Buffalo Grove for a vehicle crash with injuries.
The crash involved a Toyota Corolla and a Mercedes-Benz GLK, according to Buffalo Grove Police Officer Amy Cholewa.
An investigation showed the Mercedes-Benz was traveling eastbound on Route 53 approaching Fremont Way.
Cholewa said the Toyota was traveling westbound on Route 53, waiting to turn left onto southbound Fremont Way.
The light turned yellow and the Toyota began to turn left, at which time a collision occurred with the Mercedes-Benz.
The Mercedes-Benz drove off the roadway approximately 30 feet into a pond.
The vehicle was partially submerged in water. Multiple ambulances were called to the scene.
Three occupants involved were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Cholewa said.
The driver of the Toyota was cited for failure to yield to the right of way.
