A getaway driver of a vehicle involved in the shooting of a victim was charged and ordered detained after prosecutors say he led police on a 115 mph pursuit that ended with him crashing into a house.

The Park City Police Department responded around 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the Colonial Park Apartments for a report of shots fired.

Park City Police Chief Kenneth Stoves said officers arrived and located a 29-year-old man who suffered two gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

Officers were informed that a silver Chevy Impala that was driving in the area contained the offenders in the shooting, Stoves said.

A Park City police officer located and attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by Johnny B. Ingram, 42, of Schaumburg, but it fled the area at a high rate of speed.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Lillian Lewis said the car ran a stop sign and traveled through another stop sign at a high rate of speed.

The Chevrolet disregarded at least four stop signs and two red lights during the chase.

The Chevrolet made its way to Green Bay Road while traveling in excess of 100 mph in 35 mph and 45 mph zones, Lewis said.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Savannah Halcomb said the car traveled over 90 mph on Buckley Road in a 35 mph zone.

At one intersection, officers saw that the car did not even try to stop or slow down and also observed that the car had to swerve to go around a car to avoid a crash at another intersection, Halcomb said.

The vehicle reached speeds of 115 mph after making its way to Interstate 94 and traveling into Cook County.

Bannockburn police and Illinois State Police joined in the pursuit of the car, which eventually exited Interstate 90 at Wilson Avenue.

Stoves said Ingram crashed the Chevrolet through a guardrail into a home in the 4100 block of Kostner Avenue in Chicago.

Halcomb said the car struck the house and caused damage that left a visible hole where the basement could be seen from the outside once the car was removed.

Ingram and three other subjects were taken into custody. Three of them were transported to the Park City Police Department.

The fourth subject, who was a passenger, was transported to an area hospital for a complaint of neck pain.

Prosecutors said it was “miraculous” that no injuries were reported to the occupants of the house.

A witness to the shooting identified Ingram as the one who was driving the suspect vehicle.

Ingram was charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding, a Class 4 felony.

The three passengers were interviewed and released. Ingram was transported to First Appearance Court and held for a detention hearing after prosecutors filed a petition to detain him and a petition to revoke his pre-trial release.

Ingram was on pre-trial release at the time of the incident for a disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer arrest that occurred on April 22. He was also on parole.

Ingram has an “extensive violent background” which includes three prior armed robbery convictions, the most recent of which Ingram was sentenced to 18 years in prison, prosecutors said.

Lake County Judge Michael Nerheim granted the petition following a detention hearing that was held Monday afternoon. “The defendant does pose a real and present danger to the community based on the conduct in this particular case.”

The shooting still remains under investigation for charges, Lewis and Stoves said.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact the Park City Police Department at 847-662-2135.

Ingram remains held in the Lake County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court again on June 9 for a preliminary hearing.
