A driver was found dead inside a pickup truck that was left destroyed after it was wrapped around a tree during a crash in Woodstock Tuesday morning.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 7:51 a.m. Tuesday to the 13600 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road in Woodstock for a report of a serious crash.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said fire crews arrived within minutes and located a heavily damaged pickup truck.

The truck was off the roadway and wrapped around a tree in the yard of a residence.

Paramedics quickly determined the adult male driver had died from his injuries, Vucha said.

The male driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

No additional hazards were identified and firefighters cleared the scene at 8:15 a.m.

The McHenry County Regional Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to the scene to assist the Woodstock Police Department in conducting an investigation.

The City of Woodstock said Kishwaukee Valley Road between Borden Street and Oakland Street was closed due to the “major crash investigation.”

The area and immediate roadway were reopened around 1:30 p.m., Vucha said.
