Three suspects escaped and one was arrested after they ran from a car wanted in a robbery after it fled from police in Lake Forest and crashed in Highland Park Tuesday evening.

The Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Police Department said they were investigating an ATM robbery at Port Washington State Bank throughout the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday.

Police said the original suspect vehicle was abandoned shortly after the incident at a business in Grafton, Wisconsin.

Officers were able to track a second suspect vehicle following an investigation with the help of law enforcement agencies and Flock cameras.

An attempt to locate was issued to other jurisdictions regarding the second suspect vehicle and its connection to the robbery, police said.

The Lake Forest Police Department spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it.

The suspect vehicle fled from the Lake Forest Police Department and crashed on southbound Route 41 to the off-ramp to Clavey Road.

The four occupants fled on foot and a foot chase ensued with officers arresting one person, police said.

The City of Highland Park said around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday that there was a large police presence in the area of the 300 block of Barberry Road, between Lake Cook Road and Clavey Road, west of Route 41.

City officials initially said the car was linked in a retail theft but later corrected the statement to say it was involved in an ATM robbery where physical force was used.

The three remaining suspects fled into the residential area.

“Please be alert for suspicious behavior and call 911 in the event of an emergency,” the city said in an alert to residents.

The Highland Park Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies were searching for the three remaining suspects.

Police were using drones to aid in the search, which ended without the remaining suspects being found. No weapons were found in the vehicle.

City officials said that while images were shared on social media of possible suspects, they could not confirm the images and said they have “not received confirmed descriptions of the suspects and cannot provide descriptions or images at this time.”

“As law enforcement agencies continue the investigation, more information will be shared with the public as it becomes available. Highland Park Police will continue patrolling throughout the community, and appreciates the partnership of neighboring law enforcement agencies. To report suspicious behavior, call 911,” the city said in a statement.

Cedarburg police said around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday that the three remaining suspects had not been caught.
