One person was injured in a rollover crash on the Tri-State Tollway near Grand Avenue in Gurnee, Illinois State Police officials said.

Illinois State Police Public Information Officer Shafer McKune said the accident took place at about 8:13 p.m. Saturday at milepost I-94 milepost 8.25.

Milepost 8.25 is just past the ramp that sends drivers from I-94 to westbound Gurnee.

The preliminary investigation indicates a Toyota Venza and an Acura MDX were both driving northbound when, for unknown reasons, the Toyota left the highway to the left and overturned, McKune said.

After the Toyota overturned, the Acura lost control and left the highway to the right, McKune said.

A passenger in the Acura was transported to an area hospital with injuries, McKune said.

He did not say if anyone else in the Toyota or Acura was transported to the hospital.

No lane closures were reported, McKune said.

Gurnee Fire was called to the scene to assist, but fire officials did not have any additional information to report.

The incident remains under investigation.
