An adult male who crashed on an electric scooter in unincorporated McHenry County died of the injuries he sustained in the crash, coroner officials said.
Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said the driver of the scooter died of their injuries at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Sunday.
He said additional details regarding the driver will be released later this week.
Battalion Chief Jason Daun of the Wauconda Fire Protection District said units were called to the 5000 block of South Wildwood Drive in unincorporated McHenry County for an unconscious and unresponsive male adult who crashed while driving the electric scooter at about 9:56 a.m.
While en route, Daun said dispatch radioed that bystanders had begun CPR on the victim involved in the crash.
Daun said crews transported the victim to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
He said the victim was listed in serious condition when he arrived at the hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Daun said.
Island Lake Police assisted until McHenry County Sheriff deputies were able to arrive on the scene, Daun said.
The roadway was closed for an undetermined amount of time while the crash was investigated.
