The coroner has released the identity of a 53-year-old man who crashed an electric scooter near McHenry and died after being rushed to the hospital.
Battalion Chief Jason Daun of the Wauconda Fire Protection District said emergency crews were called to the 5000 block of South Wildwood Drive in unincorporated McHenry County for an unresponsive adult male who crashed while driving the electric scooter at about 9:56 a.m. Saturday.
While en route, Daun said dispatch radioed that bystanders had begun CPR on the victim involved in the crash.
Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek identified the victim on Tuesday as Bruce Neiswanger, 53, of McHenry.
Daun said crews transported Neiswanger to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
He said Neiswanger was listed in serious condition when he arrived at the hospital.

Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said Neiswanger died of his injuries at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital on Sunday.
Island Lake Police assisted until McHenry County Sheriff deputies were able to arrive on the scene, Daun said.
A preliminary coroner’s investigation showed Neiswanger died as a result of blunt force injuries as a result of the crash, Banek said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Daun said.
The roadway was closed for an undetermined amount of time while the crash was investigated.
