A Gurnee home was deemed uninhabitable after fire caused $150,000 in damages, authorities said.

Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief Tim Steffens said firefighters were called to the 7700 block of Sawyer Court at 8:26 a.m. on Friday.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke showing from the roof of the two-story, single-family home, Steffens said.

Steffens said the fire had managed to burn through the roof and enter the attic before fire crews could arrive at the home.

He said no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.

Steffens said crews put out the blaze within minutes and left the scene by 9:50 a.m. Friday.

The home was deemed uninhabitable and resulted in about $150,000 in damages, Steffens said.

The fire remained under investigation as of Saturday.
