A McHenry woman has been arrested and detained after being charged in Kenosha County with first-degree intentional homicide stemming from a 2003 cold case, authorities said.

Roxanna L. Collins, of McHenry, is due to appear in McHenry County court for an extradition hearing after she was taken into custody by police on a Kenosha County, Wisconsin, arrest warrant for First Degree Intentional Homicide; As a Party to a Crime; Use of a Dangerous Weapon, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

She is currently being held in the McHenry County Jail on a $75,000 cash bond and is facing extradition to Wisconsin.

Collins, who had a maiden or previous name of Roxanna Vanderzee, is being charged in the cold case murder of David A. Vanderzee, authorities said.

David A. Vanderzee was found dead of a gunshot wound at his Powers Lake residence on Sept. 23, 2003, the Kenosha County website said.

The website said the wife of David Vanderzee found him dead in his home and called police.

Police did not say whether Collins is the former wife or a family member.

John J. Viskocil, of Genoa City, Wisconsin, is also charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide; As a Party to a Crime; Use of a Dangerous Weapon, for the same case, authorities said.

Viskocil is currently being held in the Kenosha County Jail with a $500,000 cash bond.

Kenosha sheriff officials said the arrests were the result of continued diligent detective work and investigation, which included a fresh review of the case by the Kenosha County District Attorney.

“This case highlights the significant progress being made in solving long-standing murders through renewed investigative efforts,” sheriff officials said on their Facebook website. “The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting our community members and holding criminals accountable for their actions.”
