No injuries were reported in a fire in Mundelein that involved two cars and an attached garage, fire officials said.

Mundelein Fire Department Deputy Chief Jeremy Lockwood said crews were summoned to the 900 block of Clearbrook Park Drive at about 2:55 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a working structure fire.

The first arriving crew was on scene within four minutes and found a 2-car detached garage with heavy fire conditions, Lockwood said.

One vehicle was parked inside the garage, while a second vehicle parked outside in front of the garage was also fully involved in fire.

With the assistance of Mundelein Police officers, the occupants had evacuated and were located across the street before fire crews arrived, Lockwood said.

A large diameter hose line was stretched to the front of the garage by the first arriving crew to extinguish the main body of fire, he said.

A second hose line was pulled by a second arriving crew to extinguish the vehicle fire.

The vehicle’s fuel tank was leaking and required firefighting foam to extinguish, Lockwood said.

There was damage to two adjacent homes in the form of melted vinyl siding, Lockwood said, adding the main fire did not extend beyond the garage.

The home remains habitable and was handed back to the homeowners.

No occupants, firefighters, or pets were injured as a result of the fire.

The cause remains under investigation at this time.
