Waukegan police provided additional details surrounding a fatal motorcycle crash that killed a 44-year-old man from Winthrop Harbor on Tuesday.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Scott Chastain said the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Belvidere Road when the driver lost control for an unknown reason near Greeleaf Street at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday.

Chastain said witnesses to the crash said the motorcycle hit a wall after the driver lost control of it.

He added that no helmet was located at the scene of the crash.

Lake County Coroner officials identified Dustin Humphrey, 44, of Winthrop Harbor, as the driver of the motorcycle who died in the crash.

Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek said first responders arrived at the scene of the crash to find a single motorcycle crash where the operator had been ejected.

The operator of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center.
