One person was evaluated by paramedics after an SUV crashed through a house in Algonquin and left the residents displaced due to extensive damage Monday evening.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Algonquin Police Department responded around 6:35 p.m. Monday to the 500 block of North Harrison Street for a report of a vehicle into a building.
Fire crews arrived to find a vehicle that had driven through an exterior wall at a two-story, single-family home. The SUV also hit a garage door.
No injuries were reported that required transport to the hospital, fire officials said.
One person was evaluated at the scene by paramedics but they declined medical transport.
The Village of Algonquin Building Department and ComEd were called to the scene. Utilities to the home were shut off.
Fire officials said the building department deemed the home uninhabitable from extensive damage and the residents were displaced.
A board-up company was also called to the scene to shore up and secure the home until repairs can be made.
Damage to the home was estimated at $150,000 and the cause of the crash is being investigated by the Algonquin Police Department.
