An armored truck containing cash was damaged after it caught on fire while in the parking lot of a grocery store in Buffalo Grove, authorities said.
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department and Buffalo Grove Police Department responded around 1:02 p.m. Tuesday to Woodman’s Markets, 1550 Deerfield Parkway in Buffalo Grove, for a report of a vehicle fire.
Emergency crews arrived and found a Brinks armored vehicle on fire, fire officials said. No one was inside the truck.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, which was located on the front end of the vehicle.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. No injuries were reported.
The truck contained cash, which was later transferred to another Brinks truck, fire officials said.
The truck that caught fire had been serviced the prior day.
Investigators believe that a mechanical issue with the fuel line caused the fire. A damage estimate was not available.
