A woman suffered severe injuries and had to be extricated from her car that rolled over near McHenry while her dog, which was in the car, remains missing.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:10 a.m. Thursday to the area of Lily Lake Road and Nancy Lane in unincorporated McHenry for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Fire crews arrived to find a vehicle that had rolled over onto its side off the roadway.

Firefighters found the driver of the vehicle was still inside the car and trapped.

Extrication was performed to remove her from the vehicle and transfer her to an awaiting ambulance.

The driver, a Johnsburg woman, was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Communication Specialist Emily Baker. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Deputies learned the vehicle had left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a telephone pole.

The car then rolled over an unknown number of times, Baker said.

Baker said paramedics transported the woman to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with severe injuries.

Lisa Batt Pearson told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that she lives nearby and ran towards the scene to assist.

Pearson said the driver had a dog in the car with her at the time of the crash and the dog remains missing.

Flyers have been placed in the area and a dog finder is working to assist in locating the dog.

The small 15-pound dog — described as white, tan and reddish — was wearing a vest and ran toward Schwan’s Horse Ranch, Pearson said.
