A woman was hospitalized with moderate injuries after fire officials say she crashed her SUV into a tree, causing heavy damage, near Woodstock Tuesday morning.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:52 a.m. Tuesday to the area of Valley Hill Road and Whispering Pines Trail in unincorporated Woodstock.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said the call was initially dispatched as a vehicle crash with entrapment.

Firefighters arrived a short time later and located a single vehicle that had left the roadway.

The small white SUV had struck a tree just west of the intersection after driving off the road, Vucha said.

The vehicle had sustained heavy damage in the impact.

Vucha said the adult female driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not trapped but had suffered moderate injuries.

She was evaluated and transported by paramedics to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital for further medical treatment.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.
