Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a vehicle fully engulfed in flames before the fire was able to spread to a house in Lake in the Hills Friday morning.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District and Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 5:30 a.m. Friday to the 600 block of Long Cove Drive in Lake in the Hills.

The incident was initially reported as a vehicle fire but was upgraded to a reported structure fire.

Multiple 911 calls were received for a vehicle fire that was possibly extending to a house.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes and found a fully involved car fire, fire officials said.

The car was parked in the driveway of a two-story single-family residence, which had been evacuated.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive offensive attack by pulling a hose line to extinguish the car, fire officials said.

The fire was stopped before it could spread to the home. The fire was declared under control within 15 minutes.

Fire officials said no injuries were reported to any residents or firefighters. The home remains habitable.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.
