Multiple people were reported shot after a gathering with dozens of people on the lakefront beach in North Chicago led to approximately 20 shots being fired Saturday morning.
The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 4:23 a.m. Saturday to Foss Park Beach, 35 Lakeview Drive in North Chicago, for a report of a shooting.
A 911 call was received for multiple people shot at the lakefront, according to fire department radio traffic.
Officers arrived and searched the area but were unable to find any victims at the scene.
It was later learned that at least two shooting victims self-transported to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Prosecutors said that multiple vehicles were observed fleeing the area and people were running when officers first arrived.
