A 911 caller reported someone was trapped in one of the vehicles.

Fire crews arrived to find a two-vehicle crash with one vehicle that had rolled over onto its side, fire officials said.

The driver of the rolled-over vehicle was trapped inside the car and required the fire department to perform extrication.

Tow trucks removed the vehicles involved and the roadway was reopened a short time later.

Algonquin Police Department Sgt. Jason Burzynski said a Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 67-year-old Cary man, was attempting to turn left onto eastbound Algonquin Road from a private drive.

The Chevrolet Impala struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by an 80-year-old man from Lake in the Hills, that was traveling westbound on Algonquin Road approaching Michard Way.

The impact caused the Trailblazer to roll over. The driver of the Impala was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Fire officials said that multiple other fire departments assisted at the scene because the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was already at the scene of another major incident.
