A motorcyclist was flown in critical condition with life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash in Cary late Thursday evening, authorities said.

Lt. Tony Farina said Cary Fire Protection District emergency personnel were called to the intersection of South Spring Street and Cary Woods Drive at 10:42 p.m. Thursday for the single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

He said rescuers on the scene found the motorcyclist off the roadway on Cary Woods Drive between South Spring Street and Cary Woods Circle.

Cary Deputy Police Chief Scott Naydenoff said the adult male was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.

Naydenoff said the driver involved was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville due to the extent of his injuries.

It’s unknown what caused the motorcycle to crash Thursday night, authorities said.
