One person suffered minor injuries after a roof caught fire in an apartment complex in Buffalo Grove Wednesday evening, fire officials said.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department was dispatched to 9 Oak Creek Drive at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a structure fire, said Deputy Chief Sawn Collins of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department.

With multiple callers reporting that flames were coming from the roof of the affected building, Collins said fire officials upgraded the alarm to bring more assistance to the scene and to provide coverage for additional emergency calls in Buffalo Grove.

Upon arrival, initial fire crews found a fire on the outside roof area near a 3rd floor apartment balcony of a neighboring building at 10 Oak Creek Drive, Collins said.

Collins said an aggressive fire attack was initiated, extinguishing the fire while simultaneously searching for occupants of the affected apartment.

Additional crews searched the building and checked for hazards while addressing numerous calls for assistance.
