A 5-year-old died after being pulled unresponsive from a Buffalo Grove pool Friday, officials said.
Paramedics from the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Copperwood Drive for a report of an unresponsive child in a private residential pool at 6:30 p.m. Friday, said Molly Gillespie, Communications and Engagement Director for the Village of Buffalo Grove.
Upon arrival, the child from Plainfield was found out of water where bystanders were performing CPR, Gillespie said.
Paramedics immediately began lifesaving efforts, Gillespie said, and the child was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights in serious condition.
Gillespie said the child was pronounced dead at the hospital later.
She said the incident remains under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.
