A Lake County pedestrian received serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle in unincorporated Round Lake late Friday, sheriff officials said.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Fairfield and Nippersink roads in unincorporated Round Lake for a car versus pedestrian traffic crash at about 9:10 p.m. on Friday, said Lake County Sheriff Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies found a 67-year-old man of unincorporated Round Lake injured in the roadway, Covelli said.
The preliminary investigation shows a 2007 Nissan Versa, driven by a 22-year-old woman of Wauconda, was traveling southbound on Fairfield in the area of Nippersink Road, Covelli said.
As the driver of the Nissan traveled southbound, Covelli said, the driver struck the pedestrian, who appears to have been crossing Fairfield Road.
The pedestrian was not wearing reflective or contrasting clothing and was not crossing in a crosswalk, Covelli said. In addition, the roadway in the area of the crash was an unlit area.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with serious, but what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries, Covelli said.
The driver of the Nissan was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team, Covelli said.
