A 79-year-old man was critically injured and had to be flown to the hospital after he fell 10 feet from a roof at a home near Richmond, fire officials said.

The Richmond Fire Protection District responded around 9:39 a.m. Monday to the 3400 block of Overlook Drive in unincorporated Richmond for a report of a fall victim.

Fire officials said it was reported that a person had fallen from the roof of a house.

Fire crews arrived at the scene in six minutes and found a 79-year-old man who had fallen approximately 10 feet from the roof to the ground.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested to land at the Richmond fire station on Hunter Drive.
