Newly released video captured a vehicle leading police on a more than 100 mph pursuit from Wisconsin where multiple squad cars were struck before the chase ended in Zion.
The Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin Police Department last week released bodycam and dashcam video from a pursuit that occurred on June 28.
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Honda Civic for a stop sign violation.
The driver fled and led officers on a pursuit that reached speeds of more than 100 mph and continued into Illinois from Wisconsin, police officials said.
Pleasant Prairie officers, along with other assisting police agencies, made several attempts to deflate the tires of the suspect’s vehicle during the chase.
The first two attempts were unsuccessful but the third attempt helped end the pursuit.
Officers performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle and pushed it against a guardrail before ordering the driver of the car at gunpoint.
Police officials said the fleeing driver struck multiple squads during the incident but was taken into custody without further issues.
“Our officers are trained to make informed decisions in dynamic situations, always keeping public safety in mind. When necessary, we will coordinate across jurisdictions to ensure these incidents are brought to a safe conclusion,” the police department said.
Pleasant Prairie Police Department Patrol Captain Paul Marik said the chase spanned roughly 13 miles and began around 8 p.m. on June 28 in the 9900 block of Highway 50.
The chase ended just over the Illinois-Wisconsin border in the 400 block of Green Bay Road in Zion, Marik said.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, Zion Police Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Zion Fire-Rescue Department and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted during the incident.
The driver was identified as Marco A. Infusino, 25, of Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Infusino was charged with five counts of first-degree reckless endangering safety, hit and run, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while intoxicated and numerous traffic violations.
Infusino was not immediately transported to the Kenosha County Jail following his arrest and an arrest warrant was issued.
Infusino was taken into custody of the Kenosha County Jail on July 1 and later released after posting a $15,000 bond on July 11.
