Three people were arrested after a police pursuit in Wisconsin that later resulted in the car’s occupants fleeing on foot into a shopping area in Gurnee Thursday morning.

The Gurnee Police Department received a report of a reckless driver around 2 a.m. Thursday near a shopping area off of Grand Avenue and Interstate 94 in Gurnee.

Gurnee Police Department Public Information Officer Shawn Gaylor said a motorist called to report the reckless vehicle was traveling on two flat tires and its bumper was dragging along the ground.

Officers canvassed the surrounding area and located the vehicle abandoned in a parking lot behind AutoZone, 6650 West Grand Avenue.

Officers approached and saw three people fleeing the area on foot.

A coordinated response was initiated, including a canine track and foot pursuit, which resulted in the apprehension of all three subjects, Gaylor said.

Officers learned that the vehicle had fled from a traffic stop in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, resulting in a pursuit being initiated.

The vehicle’s tires were flattened after it struck stop sticks deployed by law enforcement in the chase.

Gaylor said the pursuit was discontinued and the vehicle traveled southbound on Interstate 94 into Illinois before entering Gurnee.

Preston W. Gandy, 18, of Racine, Wisconsin, was found to have an active warrant in Wisconsin and was transported to First Appearance Court in Lake County on Thursday morning.
