A motorcyclist was seriously injured after being ejected from his motorcycle during a crash with an SUV on Route 14 in Cary Friday afternoon, fire officials said.

The Cary Fire Protection District and Cary Police Department responded around 2:09 p.m. Friday to the area of Northwest Highway and Feinberg Drive in Cary for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

Cary Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said paramedics arrived on scene within two minutes and located a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

The adult male rider from the motorcycle was found lying in the roadway.

A medical helicopter was initially placed on standby as a precaution, Vucha said.

Paramedics assessed the victim and determined that his condition did not require air transport.

The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Vucha said the driver of the passenger vehicle involved declined medical treatment at the scene. The driver was the sole occupant of the SUV.

Westbound Route 14 was shut down during the incident to allow emergency crews to operate safely.

The Cary Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. It is unknown if any citations have been issued.
