A McHenry man has been charged with stealing over $14,000 from the Huntley Little League while he worked on the board as the organization’s treasurer.

Philip A. Rizzo Jr., 41, of McHenry, was charged with theft over $10,000, a Class 2 felony, and five counts of fraudulent use of a credit or debit card, a Class 4 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Rizzo Jr. obtained unauthorized control over $14,297 belonging to the Huntley Little League from August 2022 to November 18, 2022.

Rizzo Jr. withdrew cash without authorization in the amount of $3,150 on August 1, 2022, using the league’s credit or debit card, which had been issued to him as a board member for the organization, the complaint said.

The complaint said Rizzo Jr. withdrew additional cash without authorization in the amount of $3,400 on August 18, 2022, and $500 on September 6, 2022, using the league’s credit or debit card.

He was affiliated with the Huntley Little League and Illinois District 13 Little League for over a decade prior to serving on the board of directors.

Rizzo Jr.’s father, Phil Rizzo Sr., is the current administrator of the Illinois District 13 Little League, which oversees Little Leagues in McHenry, Kane and northern Cook counties.

Rizzo Jr. was charged with the felonies in McHenry County on May 15 and an arrest warrant was issued.
