A driver was injured and transported to the hospital after his pickup truck and large camper rolled over, blocking the entire roadway, near Harvard Monday afternoon.
The Harvard Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4:29 p.m. Monday to the intersection of Alden Road and State Line Road in unincorporated Harvard.
Harvard Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said a call was received for a rollover crash with possible entrapment.
Firefighters arrived and located the crash on Alden Road just south of the intersection with State Line Road.
The crash involved a pickup truck pulling a 40-foot camper trailer, Vucha said. No other vehicles were involved.
Both the truck and trailer had rolled over and the truck came to rest in an upright position.
The crash left debris scattered across the roadway and the truck and camper sustained moderate damage. Both were blocking the entire roadway.
Vucha said the adult male driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, had exited the vehicle prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Paramedics evaluated the driver at the scene and transported him to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The roadway is expected to reopen sometime before 8 p.m., Vucha said.
Towing crews are working to upright and remove the overturned trailer and clear remaining debris from the area.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
