The sheriff’s office says numerous 911 dispatch centers across Lake County are experiencing an outage that is impacting 911 lines and officials are working to resolve the problem.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said mid-day on Monday that they are currently experiencing a phone outage.
The outage is impacting numerous 911 centers in Lake County.
“If you call 911, your call will be answered and we will receive the information, but there could be delays,” the sheriff’s office said.
Anyone who needs a response from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is asked to call either 847-975-2557 or 847-975-7610.
“Thank you for your patience as the Lake County JETSB works to resolve this issue,” the sheriff’s office said.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the issue is impacting all dispatch centers that are part of the Lake County Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB).
Lake County ETSB provides the method for citizens and visitors in Lake County to access emergency services by calling 911 through landline and wireless phones.
Covelli said 911 calls to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office are currently being routed to Glenview’s dispatch center until the issue is resolved. It is unknown where calls made to other dispatch centers in the county are being transferred to.
Computer-aided dispatch systems, also known as CAD, are also down for fire departments and police departments throughout the county.
The CAD outage and 911 outage both began around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Covelli said the issue is due to a change that the Lake County ETSB made. They are working to roll back the change to resolve the issue.
