No injuries were reported after a pickup truck, which had a person inside, traveled into water and became submerged at a boat launch at Chain O’ Lakes State Park near Spring Grove.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded around 4:44 p.m. Sunday to Chain O’ Lakes State Park, 8916 Wilmot Road in unincorporated Spring Grove, for a report of a water rescue.

Fire crews arrived and found a vehicle fully submerged in the water. No one was in need of rescue.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the incident occurred at the state park’s boat launch.

“We arrived and determined nobody was in the vehicle when it became submerged,” he said.

Deputies learned a boater was attempting to remove his boat from the water.

His pickup was in park but the weight of the boat loading onto the ramp pulled his boat backward, Covelli said.
