Firefighters assisted a man out of his car and transported him to the hospital after he drove his car over an embankment into a pond at a medical office building in Bannockburn.

The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District and Bannockburn Police Department responded around 12:45 p.m. Thursday to the North Shore Medical Group, 2151 Waukegan Road, for a report of a vehicle into the water.

Fire officials said a four-door passenger car had turned into the parking lot of the medical group from Waukegan Road.

The vehicle went over a curb and down an embankment into a small pond on the property.

The car was not submerged in the water but the driver was still inside the vehicle when the police department and fire department arrived.
