Police say they are actively searching for an 81-year-old man who went missing after walking away from a rehabilitation center in McHenry on Wednesday.
The McHenry Police Department said Thursday they are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 81-year-old Leonard Skruch.
Skruch is described as being 5-foot-5 in height, 150 pounds, with shaggy gray hair and a long gray beard.
He was last seen wearing jeans with the bottoms cuffed, a light colored button-down shirt and was carrying a hard suitcase with a strap filled with his personal belongings.
Skruch was seen on Wednesday walking away from his residence at Alden Terrace, 803 Royal Drive in McHenry, on his own free will.
Skruch was last seen in the area of Crystal Lake Road and Royal Drive and is traveling on foot with no known mode of transportation.
His family has not heard or seen him and he has not returned to his residence. There is no foul play suspected, police said.
The McHenry Police Department is seeking assistance in locating Skruch so they can check on his well-being.
A release photo of Skruch is a “pretty accurate representation” of him but he currently has longer hair and a longer beard than in the photo, police said.
