A special needs school aide has been arrested for breaking a disabled woman’s ribs, strangling her and trying to sexually assault her in Marengo while also saying he had a fantasy to sexually assault children.
Johnny Latiker, 51, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, grooming and domestic battery causing bodily harm.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Latiker caused great bodily harm to a woman in her 50s in Marengo on July 10.
The complaint said Latiker punched the woman’s side with a fist, causing her to suffer five fractured ribs.
Latiker also allegedly committed grooming by texting the woman in an attempt to engage in unlawful sexual conduct with a child, the complaint said.
The complaint said Latiker made multiple requests for the woman to let him “have” a child whom the woman knows.
“Your giving me [redacted] then,” he said, adding, “If you can, great if not, no big deal. I know you have a thing about giving me your young relatives.”
“If the opportunity arises, your letting me have her?” he allegedly said while making additional references to sexually assaulting the juvenile female. “You’d be OK with her being my lover.”
Court documents said the woman and Latiker were in a sexual relationship and they met on a dating app.
Latiker met the woman at her home on her birthday, locked the door, put on gloves and began strangling her while ordering her to look into his eyes while he did so, court documents said.
Court documents said he struck her on both sides of her body, breaking several ribs and giving her a contusion on her kidney, and then attempted to sexually assault her.
Latiker also attempted to coerce the victim multiple times during their relationship to give him sexual access to a child who is in her custodial care, court documents said.
Court records show Latiker works with special needs children and drives them places.
He was employed as a special needs paraprofessional at Cedarburg High School, which is north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The school district has since removed mentions of him from its website.
An arrest warrant was issued for Latiker on August 7 and he was taken into custody last week.
The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to detain him pending trial, arguing he poses a real and present danger to the victim and others.
McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney Daniel Conroy said in court that the adult female victim is partially paralyzed and mostly uses a wheelchair and has kidney cancer, the Northwest Herald reported.
Conroy said in addition to the allegations against Latiker that he also told the woman he had a “fantasy” involving children as young as four years old, as well as girls at his high school job.
Latiker allegedly wrote, “I can actually start grooming” the children at his school, and also said that he wanted to kidnap a child from Marengo because “no one would know.”
McHenry County Judge Cynthia Lamb granted the petition and Latiker remains held in the McHenry County Jail.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday for a status of attorney hearing.
