Firefighters assisted a driver from his vehicle after a two-vehicle crash left a truck dangling over a wastewater tank at a water treatment plant in Woodstock Monday afternoon.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 2:56 p.m. Monday to the Woodstock Northside Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1965 Tappan Street, for a report of a vehicle crash.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said firefighters arrived on the scene and located a two-vehicle crash.

One vehicle was in the roadway and a second vehicle, a white Chevrolet pickup truck, was inside the Woodstock Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The pickup truck came to rest inside the facility, dangling over the edge of one of the wastewater tanks, Vucha said.

An initial 911 caller reported that the driver of the truck was trapped in the vehicle but that was determined to be inaccurate.

Vucha said the adult male driver inside the truck was still in his vehicle and was assisted from the truck by firefighters.

He was evaluated on scene by paramedics but refused any additional medical attention.

Two occupants in the other vehicle were also evaluated at the scene and declined further treatment. No additional injuries were reported.

Firefighters assisted with stabilizing and lifting the pickup truck using their equipment before it was pulled onto a tow truck for removal, Vucha said.

Damage to the facility was limited to a metal guardrail and siding and operations continued as normal.

The Woodstock Police Department was investigating the cause of the crash.
