Charges are possible and alcohol is considered a factor after a father rolled an ATV after 10 p.m. Friday, injuring his two children in Antioch.

Deputy Chief Charles Smith of the Antioch Police Department said the father was with his two children – ages 9 and 11 – on an ATV at 10:10 p.m. Friday when the vehicle flipped and rolled in the 500 block of Ridgewood Drive

Smith said the father and one of the children had significant injuries due to the crash.

Smith said alcohol seems to be a contributing factor in the crash.

Antioch Fire Department Battalion Chief Ryan Keefe said rescue personnel were called to the intersection found the ATV had rolled over on its side, and one child was lying injured on the ground.

All three were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Keefe said.

The crash remains under investigation, Smith said.

“ATV’s are not designed to be operated on the public roadways, and when they are, the results can be dangerous and at times tragic,” Antioch Police Chief Geoff Guttschow said. “In this case, both the father and his children were injured when an ATV was being used in an unsafe manner.”
