Numerous fire departments responded after a fire broke out and caused damage to a home in McHenry, leaving the residents displaced Monday morning, fire officials said.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 8:14 a.m. Monday to the 1200 block of Capri Terrace in McHenry for a report of a structure fire.

Fire crews arrived on the scene within six minutes to find a two-story home with smoke visible from the roof line, according to McHenry Township Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Chris Kozel.

Responding firefighters were informed that everyone had evacuated the house.

The incident was upgraded to a Working Fire response, which brought neighboring fire departments to the scene and staffed McHenry fire stations.

Firefighters performed an offensive fire attack and contained the fire to a corner of the house. Smoke and water damage occurred throughout the home, Kozel said.

Fire crews conducted an immediate search of the residence and did not find any victims or pets.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, Kozel said.

No residents or firefighters were injured. The house has been deemed uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and a damage estimate was not immediately available.

The McHenry Fire Protection District was assisted by the Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Nunda, Richmond, Round Lake, Spring Grove, Wauconda, Woodstock and Wonder Lake fire departments.
