A fire engulfed a shed and a boat, sending flames and heavy black smoke billowing into the air, at a marina in Ingleside Sunday morning, fire officials said.

The Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded around 11 a.m. Sunday to Swany’s on Long Lake Marina, 35450 North Wilson Road in Ingleside, for a report of a structure fire.

Fox Lake Fire Protection District Lieutenant Jake Geist said it was reported that a shed was on fire at the business.

Firefighters arrived to find a shed and a boat both fully engulfed in flames.

Geist said the fire was at risk of spreading to a second boat as well as a vehicle.

Firefighters deployed a hose line and established a porta-tank water supply due to a lack of fire hydrants.

The shed and the boat were both destroyed and the second boat sustained moderate damage, Geist said. The vehicle sustained minor heat damage.

The fire was brought under control relatively quickly, Geist said, adding that it took approximately 10 minutes.

The Round Lake, Lake Villa and Wauconda fire departments assisted the Fox Lake Fire Protection District.

No injuries were reported. Multiple fire departments also responded with fire investigators.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office shut down Wilson Road for approximately an hour.

No preliminary causes for the fire were provided and the incident remains under investigation, Geist said.
