Theresa Kennedy, 39, of unincorporated Antioch

An unincorporated Antioch woman was arrested for making a false 911 call on Friday, where she reportedly told dispatchers her ex-husband shot and killed her children, Lake County Sheriff’s officials said.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a 911 call from Theresa Kennedy, 39, of the 25000 block of West Jersey Drive in unincorporated Antioch, at about 1:20 p.m. on Friday, Lake County Sheriff Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said.

Kennedy indicated she was not home, but received a telephone call from her eldest son, who told her that he arrived home to find his younger brother and sister shot and killed.

Kennedy went on to tell dispatchers that she thought her eldest son was also shot and killed, because the phone was disconnected and she could no longer reach him, Covelli said.

Kennedy also indicated her ex-husband might be responsible for the act, Covelli said.

Sheriff’s deputies rushed to the scene and found nobody injured or killed, Covelli said, adding that both children were safe and in school.

As Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated, Covelli said, they determined Kennedy made the bizarre call to the 911 center because she is in a custody dispute with her ex-husband.

He said it remains unknown how she felt that making this false claim would be beneficial to her or her situation.

Kennedy was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail, Covelli said.

Sheriff’s deputies notified the Department of Children and Family Services, and the children’s father took custody of both kids, Covelli said.

After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the investigation, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charge of felony disorderly conduct – making a false report to 911.
