A male was flown to the hospital in serious condition after he was found unresponsive in bed following an ATV rollover crash hours earlier near Harvard Saturday morning.
The Harvard Fire Protection District responded around 11:40 a.m. Saturday to the 18200 block of Altenburg Road in unincorporated Harvard.
Harvard Fire Protection District Fire Chief John Kimmel said a subject was found unresponsive following an ATV crash.
The subject was involved in an ATV rollover crash hours earlier in the middle of the night and went to bed.
Someone attempted to wake him up in the morning and found he was unresponsive, Kimmel said.
A Mercyhealth REACT medical helicopter was called to respond to Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center in Harvard.
The ambulance transported the victim to the hospital helipad and transferred him to the flight crew.
The helicopter flew the victim to Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital — Riverside in Rockford for treatment.
Kimmel said he did not have further information on the victim’s condition but knew he was at least in serious condition.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
