A driver was transported to the hospital with injuries after a semi-tractor-trailer truck rolled over, causing Route 53 near Long Grove to be shut down for hours, state police said.
The Illinois State Police and Palatine Fire Department responded around 12:50 p.m. Monday to Route 53 and Lake Cook Road in unincorporated Long Grove for a report of a rollover crash.
Fire crews arrived and reported finding a semi-truck on its side on one of the ramps.
The driver was already out of the vehicle prior to the fire department arriving but suffered a head injury.
Illinois State Police said the incident was a single-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck hauling a trailer.
The semi-truck was traveling northbound on Route 53, exiting to westbound Lake Cook Road.
The driver told troopers that a rock was in the roadway that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
The semi-truck and the trailer both rolled over onto their side, blocking the ramp just north of Lake Cook Road with part of the trailer going off the roadway.
Paramedics transported the driver, a 35-year-old Hoffman Estates man, to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
State troopers shut down the northbound ramp to westbound Lake Cook Road for approximately two and a half hours.
A-Express Towing and Recovery responded to the scene and uprighted the semi-truck and trailer before towing them from the scene.
State police said no citations have been issued to the driver.
