Federal agents have arrested a Mexican national who was found in McHenry County after previously being caught in the United States illegally and deported back to Mexico.

Antonio DeJesus-Juares, 49, of Woodstock, who also uses the alias of Antonio DeJesus-Juarez, was charged in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois with one count of reentry by deported aliens.

An arrest affidavit from an FBI agent filed in federal court said DeJesus-Juares is a native and citizen of Mexico and has no claim to United States citizenship or lawful permanent residence.

Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) records show DeJesus-Juares was born in Mexico and entered the United States near Hidalgo, Texas, around August 2016 as an immigrant not in possession of a valid immigrant visa, reentry permit, border crossing card or other valid entry document.

DeJesus-Juares was served with a notice of removal on August 8, 2016, that informed him he was being deported to Mexico and must seek permission from the U.S. government if he seeks admission to the U.S. in the next five years, the affidavit said.

DeJesus-Juares was removed from the U.S. to Mexico on August 11, 2016, through Eagle Pass, Texas.

The affidavit said federal authorities became aware that DeJesus-Juares had illegally reentered the United States following an arrest in McHenry County in June.

Local court records show the Woodstock Police Department arrested DeJesus-Juares on June 18 and charged him with driving on a suspended license, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was driving a 2005 Honda Civic when he was stopped by officers near Church Street and North Madison Street in Woodstock around 7:10 a.m.

DeJesus-Juares was processed at the police department and released from custody on pre-trial conditions.

Court records show he pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to six months of supervision with a $575 fine on July 17.

The affidavit said DeJesus-Juares had not applied for or received permission to reenter the United States and a fingerprint analysis following his local arrest verified he was the same person previously removed by DHS in 2016.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for DeJesus-Juares after he was charged in early August and he was taken into custody by federal agents last month.

Prosecutors asked a judge to order DeJesus-Juares detained in U.S. Marshal custody pending trial and U.S. District Court Judge Jeffrey Gilbert granted the request following a detention hearing.

DeJesus-Juares is scheduled to appear in court again on November 12 for a status hearing.
