A man was flown to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries after falling from the roof of a garage near Woodstock Saturday morning, fire officials said.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 11:27 a.m. Saturday to the 10600 block of Deerpath Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a report of a fall victim.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said paramedics arrived and located an injured adult male victim.
The man had fallen approximately 10-12 feet from the roof of a detached garage at a residence.
The man was performing work on the property at the time of the fall, Vucha said.
The victim suffered critical, life-threatening injuries from the impact with the ground.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested and landed at the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock.
An ambulance transported him from the scene to the helipad where he was transferred to the flight crew.
Vucha said the victim was then airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, which is a Level 1 trauma center, for further treatment.
No other injuries were reported and it was not immediately known how exactly the fall occurred.
