Police officers and a SWAT team arrested a man who officials say was found with guns and threatened to kill his family, including a child, in Fox Lake Tuesday evening.
The Fox Lake Police Department responded around 10 a.m. Tuesday to the 20 block of East Oak Street in Fox Lake for a report of a domestic dispute.
Fox Lake Police Department Sgt. Rick Howell said officers arrived at the home and spoke with the resident.
She reported that she and her partner, identified as Aaron L. Pierce, 50, of Fox Lake, were involved in a domestic dispute.
The domestic was verbal in nature and Pierce threatened to shoot the woman and their daughter, Howell said.
Officers removed the child and her mother from the residence for their safety.
Investigators obtained a firearms restraining order and a search warrant for the residence with the assistance of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Howell said the firearms restraining order will restrict Pierce from possessing or obtaining firearms for the duration of the order.
An arrest warrant for Pierce was obtained alongside the firearms restraining order and search warrant.
The Illinois State Police SWAT Team responded to the area and staged nearby before moving in toward the residence with the Fox Lake Police Department.
Officers conducted the search warrant at Pierce’s residence on Oak Street around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The residence was searched, several firearms were seized under the firearms restraining order and Pierce was arrested, Howell said.
Pierce was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, one count of aggravated assault with a firearm of a disabled person and one count of disorderly conduct.
Pierce was transported to the Lake County Jail where he remains held pending a First Appearance Court hearing on Wednesday morning.
