A driver was injured and transported to the hospital after a pickup truck crashed into a house, resulting in heavy damage, in Algonquin Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The Algonquin Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 5:07 p.m. Wednesday to the first block of Mahogany Court in Algonquin for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Fire crews arrived and reported a pickup truck had crashed into the front wall of the single-family home, resulting in heavy damage.
Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Timothy Cooney said the crash occurred on the corner of Compton Drive and Mahogany Court.
Officers determined that a Ford pickup truck had been traveling eastbound on Compton Drive.
The Ford left the roadway to the southeast and struck the front of the home on Mahogany Court.
The residents were inside the home at the time of the crash but were not injured, Cooney said.
The driver of the Ford, a 26-year-old Algonquin man, suffered injuries and was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital for treatment, Cooney said.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. No one else was inside the car besides the driver.
There is no indication that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, Cooney said, adding that it was potentially caused by a medical episode.
It was not immediately clear whether the residents were displaced from their home due to the damage.
The Algonquin Community Development Department, a board-up company and utility companies were called to the scene.
Firefighters remained at the scene until after the tow truck removed the car and the board-up company arrived to shore up the structure.
The Algonquin Police Department continues to investigate the crash and no charges or citations have been announced.
The incident was the third crash involving vehicles colliding into buildings in McHenry County in just over a 24-hour span, with the other two crashes occurring in McHenry and Lakemoor.
